Dr. Brian Kitajima was born and raised in Orinda, CA.  He attended the University of California, Davis, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science.  He became interested in the profession of optometry because he has worn glasses since he was 6 years old.  He enjoyed seeing his optometrist because he was excited to update his prescription and improve his vision.  When it came time to consider what profession he was interested in, he interned at an optometry office decided that it was the right career choice.

After graduating from UC Davis, he decided to go to the State University of New York, College of Optometry because of its very diverse patient population, strong pediatrics/vision therapy program, and strong ocular disease and contact lens clinics.

After graduating with honors in 2007, he applied for and was accepted to an ocular disease residency at the San Francisco VA Medical Center.  At the residency, he gained invaluable knowledge in the treatment and management of ocular disease.  He was trained to provide pre and post-operative care for ocular surgeries, management of ocular diseases such as diabetic retinopathy and age related macular degeneration, and treatment of glaucoma and eye infections.  Also, due to SUNY’s strong pediatric and vision therapy program, he enjoys giving pediatric eye examinations as well.

During his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and his 2 years old daughter. So much so that they opened this practice together!
